Where it all began

My journey into photography isn't exactly a traditional one.



My passion for photography really began while I was working in Labor and Delivery. But some of the moments that changed me most weren't the happy, joyful moments people typically associate with welcoming a baby into the world. They were the heartbreaking ones.

I spent time with families who would leave our hospital with empty arms and those experiences changed something in me forever. I realized that a photograph could be so much more than a pretty picture.

It could be a connection to someone you love. A memory you can hold in your hands. A piece of a moment that time can never give back. I didn't just want to take photos that happened to turn out pretty good anymore.

I wanted to create photographs that meant everything to someone.



The firsts. The lasts. The milestones. The everyday chaos. The belly laughs. The quiet embraces. The beautiful beginnings and the bittersweet goodbyes. Because every one of those moments matters.

So, why Hey, Sis.?

There's a very special reason behind the name. My dad called me Sis. He was my biggest cheerleader. The loud, proud, larger-than-life kind who made sure you always knew he was rooting for you. He had a way of making ordinary moments feel special simply by being himself. And those two little words, Hey, Sis., carry a whole lot of love for me.

When I started thinking about what I wanted my photography business to become, I knew I wanted it to be more than just my name on a logo. I wanted it to mean something. I wanted it to feel welcoming, genuine, and full of heart. A little like the feeling of being around someone who loves you exactly as you are, and somehow, Hey, Sis. felt like all of that wrapped into two simple words.

It's a little piece of my dad that I get to carry with me into every new chapter.

My experiences in Labor and Delivery taught me just how precious photographs can be. My dad reminded me how much love can live in the smallest, simplest moments.

Together, those experiences are the heart behind everything I do.

A little more about the girl behind the camera

When I'm not behind the camera, I'm a firefighter wife, mom to one feisty daughter, and dog mom to two wonderful rescued boys. Life in our house is rarely boring, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

You can usually find me volunteering at church, helping out at my daughter's school, or sneaking in a good book whenever life gives me a few quiet minutes. (I'm an avid reader and will book club with just about anyone!)

Oh, and in all my spare time, I actually have a full-time job. You know, because apparently I don't believe in free time!

I work for a wonderful software company that supports dog rescues, and it's work that's incredibly close to my heart. I love knowing that the work I do and the relationships I build with rescue organizations can play a small part in helping save more lives. Whether it's through photography, volunteering, or supporting animal rescue, I think there's a common thread in the things I'm drawn to.

I want the things I do to matter.

And while I take the responsibility of capturing your memories seriously, I promise I don't take myself too seriously.

I'm a little sarcastic, I love a good laugh, and I believe the best photographs often happen when people feel comfortable enough to simply be themselves. Your moments. Your memories. Your story.

Whether I'm photographing a senior ready to take on the world, a family laughing together, a beloved pet, or precious time with someone you love, my hope is always the same.

I pray that years from now, when you look back at your photographs, you'll remember more than what that moment looked like, how it felt, the laughter and the love.

Because sometimes the photographs we treasure most are the ones we never knew we'd need, and if I can give you even a little piece of that to hold onto forever, then I've done what I set out to do.
